OK guys I have bought a little procon mixture adjuster and it goes in line on the air temperature sensor. so how do I get to this sensor. does the tank need to come off. cheers Dave.

OnV7 II and III (single TB) the air temp sensor in integrated into the throttle body/ECU unit, so it's not readily accessible.
Not sure about the V7 Classic (2TB) though, maybe this has a separate external component?

I would guess the probe itself does not need to be reached, just the wiring to it?
If you have a 1TB engine would suggest before you do anything else, just disconnect the lambda sensors at their plugs under the side panels and see how it runs. I imagine your device is designed to richen the mixture at low revs - removing the lambdas does the same job for 0£.

already bought it andyb, it was £90 from m&p, so not a huge amount of money, I have read a long running post about how lean these bikes run and how temperamental they can be when cold, so I thought it would be nice to have some control over this, fuel consumption doesn't bother me too much as I am not a high mileage person and I would rather have a sweet running engine which I hope this little unit gives me.

Try a remap from beetle maps here https://www.griso.org/. maybe a bit more to spend but the result will be infinatly better and no damage to your engine will ensue. The enrichers are very crude lash up solution which can end up with more fuel than necessary being in the combustion chamber washing out the oil leading to ring, bore and valve damage.

I may be missing something here but if a device made the mixture run so rich it strips the lubricant away from critical parts, surely the smell of burnt oil would prompt a check on the condition of the plugs at the very least?

V7 Classic Black and gold was the best. But green & black was nice too. Now blue is in!

On the earlier twin throttle bodied bikes the air temperature sensor is accessed by removing the side cover on the right side of the bike.
I had a Finebau Forge Aeroplus Lite (or Aerolite Plus?) gizmo that connected in to the wiring at the same point.
I ended up disconnecting it and doing a thorough job of checking valve clearances when stone cold, using vacuum device to balance throttles extremely carefully at 2000 rpm with air bypasses closed, using only one air bypass to set the idle speed, and finally doing a TPS reset using GuzziDiag. Also only using cheapest petrol, not Shell V Power, BP Ultimate or Esso Supreme. Since when it has been lovely.

If it ran that rich you would get a service warning as the feedback from the O2 sensor would be out of tolerance. The later Finebau unit has adjustments for this, and did bring up the warning if too rich. In these situations, the suggestion that it will run too rich for safetyis a bit of a red herring.

I second Chris A above, a Beetle map on my 1TB Stone turned it into a totally different ride, easy start hot or cold, no warm up time, no stumbling after start up and able to hold high gears for longer when slowing down. Pipes are now a slight blue as opposed to almost a cobalt blue and fuel consumption still as it was before, maybe even better. Hope you get the result from your gizmo, but as you may have guessed, I'm sold on Beetle. Regards, John
