Hi, I'm restoring a 1960 110cc Zigolo, and will soon be ready to try to start her up. Do I need any special fuel additive to replace lead.
As for parts, I need an exhaust.gasket, and one for the base of the cylinder, and would rather not buy a full set. Also needed is a kickstart spring - I bought one from Italy but it is was too big. Lastly, where is the impedance coil fitted? Any help gratefully received'Butler Paul |

Don't think unleaded fuel is a problem with 2 strokes. no valve seats to worry about. Chrome bore uses 50 to 1 pre-mix cast bore 20 to 1. Recommend 20 to 1 first 500 miles if engine restored.
Exhaust gasket is soft metal ring with soft asbestos substitute inner. 33mm od x 27mm id x 3mm thick. might find similar online or could be made Cylinder base gasket is 0.40 mm thick and could be made. Lot cheaper than buying from Italy The kickstart spring is quite big and should have large washer between spring and kickstart. my spring is approx. 35mm dia. Coil is fitted right hand side behind door. fitted to top front engine support just below main frame tube. hope this helps can post photos if this would help I have just completed assembly of restored engine today.

When I rebuilt an Ariel Arrow a couple of years ago I used fully synthetic at 30:1 rather than the 20:1 recommendation. It woked very well and didn't make too much of a smokescreen, but of course experiences may vary. As George says, unleaded will be fine although there will be people queuing up to tell you about ethanol.....

My local bike shop which is a small place catering to youngsters with modern stuff have a huge range of crushable exhaust washer in a rack. I was surprised to see such a choice. Might be worth trying your local shop?
