Many thanks for your kind words. The laminated copy will be useful in the workshop as they are wipe clean.

I have just received a pdf of the wiring diagram for my newly acquired S3 which I hope to get a look at this year.
Absolutely brilliant. Well laid out and easy to follow.
Thank you very much for your efforts Chris.

They are the best, you won't find anything comparable.

I am a rookie in the Colonies looking for Devine Intervention. I have a non running 1975 850T. Should run but electrics are ratty. I am trying to sort out ignition but am confused . I saw your color renderings and would like to buy one. Help me please. The ignition switch and start /stop switch are confusing me.
I am a candle/ magneto kind of guy.
Fred Dallyn, in the weeds of Canada.

Please beware there are errors on Carl Allison's 850T drawing, the wires between the generator and the regulator are shown to the wrong terminals, the brown wire (not brown/black as he shows) should be between terminals marked DF and the black wire between terminals marked D- Also the he shows the wire between terminals marked D+ as black whereas it should be red.
Further the wire between the coils is shown as blue when it should be blue/black.

Although these differences make little difference there could be problems if you get the wiring wrong between the generator and regulator.

Best wishes

Further to my V50 comment a month ago I have now solved the problem. First I dismantled and cleaned the ignition switch. Fortunately the tabs did not break. The contacts were very corroded and I thought I had solved the power supply failure but then discovered an intermittent fault on moving the handlebars. A pin in the 12 way connector had broken so a new Molex pin was fitted and a red wire soldered in and spliced to the loom. All this was too much for the battery which decided not to hold charge. This was probably hastened by over use of the starter when trying to start the bike. Problems go in threes! The wiring diagram was invaluable especially because it shows the wire colours and their position in the 12 pin connectors.

I also discovered that the original wiring needs to have all the connections cleaned and lubricated with an electrical silicon contact grease as the area underneath the headstock is not very well protected from the weather, a job for a Summer. However it has taken 40 years for the problem to occur.

I have just received the A3 laminted wiring diagram today from Chris for the Le Mans 1000. What a brilliant easy to follow diagram. Far better than the one I currently use. Would highly recommended getting one for your bike.
