Removed my bevel drive and maybe 10ml of oil leaked out of the driveshaft housing. Might be that the oil seal on the bevel box pinion is leaking. Question. Could the oil have come from the other end i.e. the gearbox etc and if so from where?
Thanks

Did you check the level in the bevel box? Was it low? Yes it's also possible the gearbox output shaft seal is weeping a bit. But 10ml isn't much.

Thanks Brian, unfortunately not, i took it off to 'borrow' it for another bike, it got left on its side and leaked oil from the breather so no way to know how much was in.
I've put it back and will keep an eye out Thanks |
