I am new here. Late to riding but loving it. My first bike is a 2002 MG CA Special Sport. I want to keep it looking as good as when I got it. The plastic side covers and small plastic chromed pieces are now breaking loose and the chrome film is wrinkling and peeling. Along with this the motor seems to have been painted with a flat black over a gloss black and is also peeling. Any suggestions for repairing the tabs and the chromed plastic?
Thank you.

The plastic side covers are made of ABS, and you can get a solvent weld liquid to repair this from model shops. The one I use is calles Plastic Weld, but I'm sure there will be an equivalent where you are.
It works very well, though sometimes you have to give a little extra support to the repair, and again the models shops also sell sheet ABS which you can cut and weld onto the back of the panel where it's not seen.
The liquid is easy to use, and wicks into small cracks too, repairing them more or less invisibly.

Not sure about the chromed plastic though.
Brian.

you can buy a 'chrome' spray paint which was good on a job i saw it done.  needs good prep and a special primer though

The Alclad range of metallic paints from models are terrific, I use them frequently when modelling.
The 'Chrome Paint' either needs a basecoat of black enamel paint or Alclad's own glass black primer and they are best applied by airbrush.

Mr Hobby paints also have a 'Chrome Paint' which can be applied by brush, left to dry then polished to a nice sheen.

Here are 2 pics of the wheels on a 1/24th scale model Mercedes I did which originally were grey and done with Alclad Chrome, to show how realistic chrome paints can be, sorry they are a bit fuzzy.

You may be able to get something like this local to you: http://www.chromespray.co.uk/

I'd guess that there are bound to be places doing that in your neck of the woods.
