I don't think the Griso uses much in the way of Dellorto products.

Would like to have bought the bits from a guzzi specialist, but only Fowlers bristol had all parts in stock at sensible money, and on way already. Shame as one of their sales-men lost a Triumph Bobber sale to a friend because he would only speak to her husband - she went to Total Triumph near Wellington instead ! 😂😂

Right - the parts have arrived , new clutch master cylinder assembly, thrust bearing, o ringseal and shaft seals !! but before fitting to see if that sorts it -

Soooo Im wondering if I should take off the swingarm after all, to grease up splines, bearings etc while Im there - but workshop manual is delightfully vague on specifics and calls things different names all the time ! Now Ive done this before successfully on my GS so I get the importance of torque settings lock rings, aligning splines on shafts etc but that was with a good manual and some good write ups.
So just checking - the swingarm bolt goes in through the swingarm clamp-frame-to other side of swingarm screwing in at 60Nm
The ring nut bushing does up at 10Nm and swingarm clamp bolts do up onto that at 10 Nm.

I'm checking because usually a bolt like this has a lower torque and its lock nut has a high torque, but I dont entirely trust the poor translations.

also- when the clutch pushrod came out for checking, the (clutch end) end cap stayed inside - Can I safely assume this would just stay sitting inside the mainshaft up against the pressure plate ? or is it likely to have fallen out of position meaning a gearbox/engine split !!??

Always willing to listen to those wiser than me ....
Cheers
Hugh

Worth checking those swinging arm bearings, several owners have had issues with them drying out, if indeed there was any grease there to start with.

I did mine on the Norge without any problems, didn't use a torque wrench so no idea exactly how tight things were. I used an adjustable C spanner (Britool) to undo the castellated lock ring. I just followed the workshop manual.

Also check there is grease in those dog leg bearings while you are in there.

Before joining this forum, I had no idea about the Mandello grease famine. Now I wonder why manufacturers got rid of all the grease nipples if they expect owners to apply it themselves! My grease gun has languished in the bottom of a box in the garage for many years now. I think I must have out once on a trailer wheel hub in the last ten years at least.

I would like to support dealers if there were any near me ! I'm sure there are some great people running guzzi dealerships but I hear the support from guzzi used to be terrible ? Is it any better under Piaggio ? Guzzis have always been a bike of character which not all bikers appreciate - personally I love em despite Mandello's interesting quality control.
BTW - glad I took the swingarm out as the bearings had minimal grease and one side was even rusty !! So replacing them both - 32005rs taper roller bearings with a seal! 47x25x17 for 35bp !! Anywhere cheaper ? Some available at 15mm wide for much less but not sure they'l fit properly !?

Feck - this is the Griso that just keeps giving !! having replaced the clutch master (£207), taken out swingarm to find corrosion on one of them (what a bastid to get those out), (£33 each side) just thought to be safe I'd clean up the slave cylinder and find this !! Too scored to fix I think, so thats gonna be another £98.
I suppose It'l be the steering head bearings next !?
