Hello again,

thinking seriously now of having the Guzzi "deep cleaned" or valeted, I mean when someone works on all the little crannies very hard, degreases everything, makes the wheel and the chrome shine as much as practicable and in general gives the bike the full treatment. I wanted to do it last year but then I decided to wait for the respray first, which is now done (see other post).

Any recommendation of a good company doing this? They would have to come to my garage in RM15 and do the work on site.

I am grateful for any useful idea.

Thanks

I do my own, it's easy with an OCD in cleaning bikes and cars.
materials are cheap
I recently bought a 17yrs old Triumph Trophy.
Took me 12 hrs to get it sorted.
But when your retired like me 12 hrs is easy to find.
I do NOT recommend anybody who uses a jet washer!
The bike has so many electric and electronic devices that had an aversion to water.
Let alone the corrosion that occurs a fortnight later !
When your sump plugs shiney....that clean
good luck

When the bike gets as dirty as mine got yesterday, I have no hesitation about getting the power washer out and using it sensibly. Have done so for 30 + years with no harm done. I only use it when it gets really filthy, which admittedly is just about every time i use it at this time of year. If I had a bike that was so fragile it could not withstand the occasional power wash to get the worst of the crud off (when there is too much baked on for a hosepipe) I wouldn't have it for very long!

I hose the bike down every week and give it a good clean and every month it gets jet washed to get the proper poop off.  Some people hate jet washes because of the horror stories but it's up to you where you point it. Just bodywork and frame - I've got half  mile of farm track to ride down and it needs jetting!
Due to italian electrickery I am saying nowt. Despite nearly giving the Vstrom away the honda has gone...

Point a jet wash anywhere near an ECU or injectors and you could have expensive repair bills, it's not just wheel bearings.

I normally take my Guzzi to the local dip and strip each spring .

Works a treat!

Yes, but which one of you has the dip and strip?

I am sure you're right Brian. You just have to be sensible in use. I wouldn't use the power washer under the bonnet of my car either. I am sure there are many that don't do many miles or use their steeds only on dry summer days but for the rest of us, it is the best way to get the major crud off before hand washing. One of the advantages of my former commuter tool, a Suzuki burgman, was that I could get away with only jet washing it. It never had any other kind of TLC!

With heated grips and a taller screen and maybe one of those apron things, quite probably. Sorry omobono, seem to have hijacked the thread. I will keep quiet now!
