Hi all
Question re fuel taps for my 98 Cali Special injected. When I bought the bike it had the standard solenoid tap but the wiring was not connected. This means that I have to drain the tank to remove it. I purchased a tap for a Cali 3 (plus other models) which has the traditional 3 way tap inc reserve, thinking that I could install this and use the reserve position for normal running. While the tap should fit okay (I have not tried fitting it yet), the outlet spigot is only 8 mm vs the 12 mm (I think) of the standard tap. I could sleeve it to fit the larger fuel line but am a bit worried that I might not get enough flow through this tap. Can anyone advise please? If this solution is no good then can anyone advise on a good one? The bike did come with a manual screw in to shut off tap but the screw mechanism doesn't seem to work. So I'm a bit shy to get another one of these. Ta

8mm bore is more than adequate for fuel flow. I didn't realise they used 12mm.

I agree. If you look at main jet sizes, they're tiny compared to that, and all the fuel has to go through them.

I’ve got a screw in one on mine. It’s a bit stiff but will shut off with pliers. I suspect the Petrol has caused the seals to swell but I guess this took a few Year’s to deteriorate so I’ll probably go for a straight replacement (from gutsibits). It doesn’t look like it’s a serviceable item.

Thanks to all for responses. Note that my bike is injected, so I am a bit concerned that the smaller spigot will not flow enough for the fuel pump to work properly. My pump is running a bit loud - I have cleaned the current tap screen which had a bit of crud on it and will put in a new fuel filter when it arrives but I don't want the tap flow to be another variable.
