The people to get stuff from are Eurocarbs brill and helpful the usual starting point is up the main jet 10% they are not expensive, by now the square carbs are usually worn and no spares ...replace them with the round 30mm carbs they will need stepped down bolts and inlets to fit , got mine from a breaker ...the carb swap alone gives more pep to the acceleration well worth the outlay .....

How big are these filters if the small "pod" style might actually be restrictive at high rpm; if K&N ones, beware can easily be over oiled which will strangle air flow.
There's a story somewhere at the mo a V50 with small pod filters won't go past 4,000 rpm, just bogs, took filters off as an experiment, went like the proverbial sh!t off a shovel. Hitherto had been looking at carbs & ignition, no amount of cleaning & fiddling did anything. I had the big oval K&N's on my big blocks, sit above the gearbox in front of battery and also need the Le Mans breather box as can't use original. HTH |
