Hi everyone,
Since I broke the throttle cable (there is a thread on this) and after becoming wise about the technical terms (I was equivocating the use of the word "switchgear" and "throttle assembly") I decided to order the original "lego" part, put on the bike a new original cable and use the all original setting. This is in order to avoid having to ride around with a "custom" part that would take a long time to have redone if anything happens. I am satisfied (after calling Gutsibits) that the Tommaselli product would require a cutom cable; therefore, "Lego" it is. As a result, back in August I wanted to order from Gutsibits the part ELA14455 I emailed back in August to know when availability would be, and they told me around 10 working days. I checked a couple of times and there was still no availability; this morning also no availability, so I have written to them asking about it. The well-known German shop Stein-Dinse has this It seems the same part to me, but again I do not even know the difference between "switchgear" and "throttle assembly" so I am a bit cautious. I have also asked Stein Dinse whether their product is a new production or whether it comes from old Mandello parts as I want to avoid an original, Seventies-era spare part at all costs. Do you think it is the same part and possibly the same producer? I trust both Gutsibits and Stein Dinse, but I want to avoid the reliability issues of the old Lego parts. Thanks to all O |

" It seems the same part to me, but again I do not even know the difference between "switchgear" and "throttle assembly" so I am a bit cautious. " Ok, to clarify as best I can, maybe somebody can do it clearer?. It is up to yourself what way you go , everybody will have their own preferences when doing it using non standard parts, if you go down the separate switchgear and throttle assembly route it saves you having to open up the switchgear to oil the cable(s). That little triangular black bit to the left of the cable allows you to remove the cables without disturbing the switchgear (thankfully, as the assembly seems to be attached to the bar in a rather mickey mouse way). You just slip the clip off, pull down on the cables which then allows you to slip that triangular block off then the cables will come out when you roll the twistgrip past the normally closed position. Getting it all together again can be irritating especially when you're working in a confined space. |

You want that version above don't you? "Original lego style". Has twin cable twistgrip and stock cables will / should fit.
Have to confess didn't know about the removable triangular bit. What I used to do was rotate twistgrip to max., grab a cable sleeve, simultaneously release grip and pull down the sleeve, this exposes the cable inner; then keep holding onto it while dribble oil into the exposed sleeve end from my oiling can. Repeat for other cable. |

Thanks to all. Yes, the ideal is to have the entire group (throttle assembly + switchgear) in "Lego Style" but hopefully without the horrible Seventies-quality. Therefore, the link to both Gutsibits and Stein-Dinse which seem (to my untrained eye) to have the same parts, but I might be wrong.
So the question remains what kind of Lego parts these are: produced new from someone who knows what he's doing, or a remainder from old Guzzi shelves. I wanted to know whether someone has more information as I await the answer from Stein Dinse (which might, or might not, be accurate). Thanks to all again O

His problem then is getting throttle cables to fit ... which is where we came in ...
By the look of the photos these look same as what was on my Spada in other words "1970's quality". |

But there again, I love my lego. G5 has lived outside for the past 15 years without a cover and the switches have generally worked well. I may have replaced the odd switch here and there. Stuff wears out so it does.

On my V1000 G5 I use cali 2 throttle cables they give a big loop but never an issue ...each to their own ....I prefer the more modern switchgear it is more +ve never fails and easy to operate in all weathers ....
