Hi All,
After many months of trying to locate the front end rattle I have finally found the answer for certain. It IS the floating disc without any shadow of doubt! The fix is.......new bobbins, washers and cir clips. Now does any one know the size of the bobbins I need as there are two sizes apparently? Hope someone can help! Cheers, Wildhenry. |

Hello Wildhenry, I am going to view the replies to this thread quite avidly... I have been astounded by the "rattling" amount of clearance in the front disc bobbins, from day one of owning my new, ( 2 years old now), V7II ... It has never made any noises, or been noticeable, or obtrusive in any way ... BUT, if there are TWO SIZES of bobbins available, I am beginning to wonder ..... Have the wrong size bobbins been fitted instead of the correct ones ... because they are easier to fit ...???? I take this rather negative view of Guzzi's technical abilities, because right from the dealer's door, my bike had a "nyloc" 6mm nut fitted to the exhaust stud at the left hand cylinder head, ( I ask you...just about the hottest part of the engine)... and the handlebar to top-yoke mountings, were devoid of any rubber bushings, or steel sleeves... Just two cup-shaped washers, badly deformed into the bottom of the top-yoke .... Some seriously "unskilled" people assemble our motorcycles ... Please let us all know if you find that closer fitting bobbins are available ... Regards, Tony

Hi Tony,
Thanks for this ......that could be the source of the problem! My 2012 V7 has only done 11,000 miles so there should not be any problems with worn bobbins. I've just found some on e-bay which I hope will do the job (£25 for 9 bobbins with washers and cir clips) I'm about to check the sizes of the ones that are on my bike. There is also a company called 'Disc Doctor' who supply bobbins too. I'll keep you posted. Cheers, Wildhenry |
