    Posted: 24 Aug 2017 at 12:57

Hello, I am currently a novice restoring a 1983 Moto Guzzi 850 T5 and in the process of assembling the swinging arm. The parts shown in the above image represent the attachment mechanism, however I would expect a sliding fit between parts 1 (male) and 4 (female). The manual is does not contain a diagram for this attachment, so I am looking to clarify there are no parts missing such as a small bush?

Thanks for your help!

Kind regards,

Jack

Hi Jack

when you screw part 1 through the frame it will ride into part 4

see Stein Dinse parts diagram online or below

http://www.stein-dinse.biz/eliste/index.php

the parts diagram is same as your pic - and the same as my T5 swing arm which i am currently replacing bearings on, except you are missing the screw on cover (no 4 on SD) and rubber grommet (20) that fits on part 1.

PM me your email and i will send you a copy of the parts manual

When it's all together, make sure the left and right pins (part 1 in your photo) stick out by the same amount so that the swingarm is centred in the frame.

And, pack '4' liberally with grease, and tighten pins '1' so there's no play, but no tighter.

But all the bits in your photo are all there is. (Only missing is lock nut and little rubber bung.)

The complete parts list might help you with this and other things. The swinging arm details are there with parts descriptions. On the Guzzitek.org site you will also find the workshop manual.
