I possibly need a new oil temp sensor of this variety:
They are ludicrously expensive for what they are! And until I fit it I'm not sure I need it.... Is there a known alternative that's cheaper? Ta!

I'll bet the same item is fitted to some Fiat model. Electrically they are all the same, a thermistor which decreases in resistance with increase in temperature, and that scale is always the same.
It will be the same as the air temp sensor. By the way, -273 degrees means the sensor is open circuit, a broken wire somewhere.

That is a bit cheaper. Not surprised though, lots of these things are standard automotive parts, resold by Guzzi at extortionate prices.
Maybe the same item for a Ford would be cheaper again.

If you have a multimeter, you can easily test the sensor, just measure the resistance at ambient temperature and compare with the figure in the workshop manual.

Every time look at the manufacturers part the TDC/RPM is a Marelli part, used on most Italian cars and is £100 less. I even do this with car parts my VW Passatt and Annies Suzuki both needed new Lambda sensors for the exhaust both were over £100 from dealers THE SAME PART NUMBER from the euro parts suppliers were under £40....Guzzi uses many of the elektrikery parts as supplied to Fiat/Lancia/Alpha and even Ferrari (cos Fiat own Ferrari) mind bet the F parts are a bit expensive lol
