So I had an accident that may result in my Griso 1100 being totalled. And I just bought a Sport 1100.
I was wondering, how interchangeable are Guzzi motors? Could I make a Griso-engine'd Sport 1100? |

Probably doable, but the devil will be in the detail. Don't expect to drop a Griso engine straight into a spine frame, check the engine measurements, like the width of the front mounting etc.

Yeah, I think I'd be calling on an engineer to assist, its not something I could do alone. But on basic concept, I guess its possible. Just depends how much I'd be prepared to pay for it.
But what an ultimate Sport that would be. I know the Griso motor is so much faster than the Sport. If its possible, I may look to get a 1200 Sport motor later on specifically for the spine frame. |

Surely they are basically the same engine so is it worth it, does the Griso engine make more power?

My Griso does, its tuned...
Having ridden both, the Griso motor destroys the Sport one in power, response, rideability... everything. Although the Sport does have a California gearbox, so obviously it has longer ratios. As Kate Wain says, the Griso engine feels like a Raceco tuned Sport engine. Its to do with the cams and the fuelling. Longer wheelbase though, which would be odd. |

I don't have that kind of money... unless I sold both the remains of the Griso if its totalled plus the Sport.
Then again it'd probably cost more to have the Griso engined Sport done... I'll see what happens with the Griso assessment. |
