1980 Moto Guzzi V50 Mk II
36,000 miles
New replacement inlet cone air filters and new exhaust silencers.

Hi there,
The workshop manual quotes the following oils for the V50.

V50 oils

Engine 2.25 litres
Agip Sint 2000 10W/50

Gearbox 1 litre
Agip F.1 Rotra MP (SAE 90)

Rear Drive 0.170 litres
0.160 l Agip F.1 Rotra MP SAE 140
+
Agip Rocol ASO/R

Front fork per leg 0.070litres
Agip F.1 ATF Dexron

Brake fluid
Agip F.1 brake fluid (SAE J 1703)

Are you able to tell me what 'modern' equivalent oils I will need in order to keep my bike running sweetly?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Opie advised Fuchs Superma 15W-50 mineral oil for my '92 750T. Seems ok, so I use it in my Falcone too.

I've just received my copy of Mick Walker's Guzzi V-twin restoration book and he recommends 10W/40 for the engine. Of course these weren't available when our bikes were new.

I can’t seem to find the oil you are quoting.

Am I right in understanding you don’t use regular fork oil?
How do you then go about adjusting the ride? Springs only?
Thanks !!

I use the Eurol oils  oil advisor  website for bikes and cars  , interestingly for the V50 in question  they suggest phoning the Technical help line re  engine oil  but have listings for transmission and forks.

750T book says use 10w/40 engine oil, I have mobil 15w/40 oil I have had hanging around for a few years, Think that would be ok????? would rather use a more modern semi synthetic but not to sure how these old engines would react, what's the general feeling on this please.
Mallywoods again sorry

I agree with Brian above, use up what you have 15w-40 will be fine.

And for future, semi synthetic is also fine.

Cheers,

Guy
