Don't know what section this is most adapted for, but because I mess around with old Guzzi singles, I've started to make my own gaskets again, years after doing them out of Rice Krispies packets for my old Honda Benlys years ago. Not a masterclass, but what I found works - pics and words here: http://italianmotor.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/make-your-own-gaskets.html

I've done this many times, especially for those odd ones you just can't seem to get anywhere, plus it's often a lot quicker than trying to source one from a shop.
I use the small ball pein hammer system.
Place gasket on surface of say the manifold face, hold firmly and tap lightly around both edges, including the bolt holes. You almost end up with a cut out there and then, but it is then easy to cut with either a modelling knife, or in some cases just scissors.
Brian.

That's much the way I do it Brian but I use a ball bearing in the bolt holes and hit that.

I'm a bit OCD (not diagnosed I might add..) and really enjoy cutting round with the scalpel and using the stamps as the finish is so precise. Comes from the hours spent making Airfix Spitfires and Me 110s when I was a kid.
