Having a hard time finding exhaust pipes and mufflers for a 1978 v50, does anyone know if pipes from other newer models will fit this bike?

As long as the front pipe diameter is good yes they ought to fit, as for mufflers many in the UK run them with ones for an old Brit bike OR get stainless ones made over here we would look at www.osmc,co,uk or Armours ... IF I remember correctly the Mk 2 had larger bores not an expert on V50's tho'

From memory the V50 III had different diameter pipes to the earlier versions.
I would have thought the later 650 and 750 models would be different as surely the cylinder height would be more? I'm sure both pipes and mufflers are available in the UK if you are prepared to import them.

I can't answer your question about later systems fitting but an English company called "Feked" have pipes and silencers for Mks 1...2.and 3.
Google them and good hunting. |

If ...... http://www.osmc.co.uk/exhaust_7.htm ..... is / were a company called OS Pipes, I can tell you they made some quality s/s front pipes for an XBR I had years ago, I`d recommend them anyway. Good luck in your search.

Keihan systems. Expensive but the best. If you cannot stretch to full set. Go for down pipes and h piece and fit some aftermarket British type reverse cones. Cheap and will last up to five years if looked after if riding in all weathers. If you buy the full set in years to come when your bike has died you will get 50% of your money back selling them on if they are not dented.

Did you ever get yourself sorted with a pair of silencers for your V50. I have been doing up a 1980 V50 Mk II and may have a pair of good condition after market silencers available.
