I was a great fan of the Ventura system, my preferences have evolved ... or maybe denigrated back to a large dry bag.
Before I sell all the Ventura kit... I need a way of securing said dry bag. I have been using the Ventura rails. What I want is something I can literally shackle the Rok Straps too, so not a hook, rather a metal loop. I need 2 down each side of the saddle and 2 at the rear - it looks as if these can be drilled through the frame that makes the grab handles - they need to be not too industrial, as they will live on the bike.
I've looked online and I can see various things like these...
but they look as if they won't be strong enough (a heavy dry bag tied down to cross the country/continent) .... I'm thinking of a visit to a yacht chandler unless any of you can come up with something.

Ideas on a post please... I will list the Ventura stuff on the For sale area for a while then it will go on Ebay on Sunday.

Adam

I presume you mean on your 1200 sport, Adam? I'm not sure where or how the bracketry for the Ventura carrier is mounted, but here's a couple of ideas that may help without drilling into the frame, or even removing the grab rail. I have tried to make invisible bracketry for luggage carriers on two Bellagios. I expect the subframe is similar.

In this pic you can see a flat bar bolted across the subframe to suit, giving me two solid mounting holes for a pannier frame or rack if I want. Also if you can see in the pic the two frame tubes end simply cut off. I have hammered wooden dowel tightly into these, giving a solid base to hold big screws to attach any bracketry. Then a ship's chandler should have some robust stainless eye bolts that can be mounted on the brackets, or detached when not in use?

Don't know if that's any help, but it might give you an idea?
