This is something I bought just before the V50III Project turned up!  If I had known that was coming I probably wouldn't have but I'd never tried a tele / rigid bike....
Easier to get at the points though......

Thanks Dave,
I knew the dynamo wasn't working and found the drive chain in the spares bag, I now see why PO simply installed a sacrificial battery for horn & brake light! If I keep the bike long enough I might try and extract it !

I had a G80S which was a bit later than that Ajay (Model 16 or 18?). I always felt it was a bit gutless especially when compared to my current Norton ES2. As said, the dynamo is a pain and neeeds careful assembly to stop its chain coming into intimate contact with the primary drive.

Slow progress on my Grumph: engine assembly complete and fitted into engine plates; gearbox internals ready for fitting. Trial "assembly" (well just propping in position) of tanks and seats looks feasible with some adjustments.

Ian,
The Grumph looks nice.. I like unusual machines..  The AJS is a Model 18 & has not been without its issues..  However am hoping the weather will be better tomorrow & so will take it for a little venture out. I don't expect it to be a fire breather, it's just that the local AMC bunch have tolerated me since 1995 on a variety of non marque machines so I thought it was about time I tried one!
Must admit I suspect I probably won't keep it...

Cheers,

Thanks Adrian, a way to go yet. My brother actually has a later (Jampot) Model 18 which I tried for him before he bought it but I was not impressed. I am not a fan of that Burman gearbox. My later G80S had what is misnamed the AMC box (misnamed as it's actually all Norton except the rather poorly designed clutch lifting mechanism). Still not my cup of tea.
