I never said he had a lack of engineering knowledge, you made that up, is it all made up?

but how do you know for certain he said this, did you speak to him personally, or was it someone elses story that he said it?

what evidence did he back it up with, tests or evidence of any sort, or was that just his opinion based on his general engineering background, or opinion based on him seeing or hearing about many crashes?

You posted it as fact, using his name to add weight to the argument,

maybe you find it amusing that I require more evidence than that, because without that evidence it's just hearsay and myth and  a belief, in the same way as religion is!

OK, just calm down. You did mention "lack of engineering knowledge" in your previous post.

Using no tube on the Guzzi cast wheels that were not intended to run tubeless is arguably dangerous, as if the tyre comes off the rim, you will get a huge loss of air, not so if you have a tube inside.
Later Guzzi cast wheels are designed for tubeless tyres, and have a different profile.
Any dealer would have to give that opinion, or risk being sued if someone followed his advice and had an accident.

Thus the advice that must be given is that rims not designed for tubeless tyres should always be used with an inner tube.

Ian did mention, "lack of engineering knowledge" in his post but I think it's been misread by Guz Rider.
What Ian wrote was ,"It looks more like someone is using his name to justify their lack of engineering
knowledge",
To me that reads.. " It looks more like someone, (another person, other than Pietro), is using his name,
(Pietro), to justify their, (the other person's), lack of engineering knowledge.

Ian  wasn't saying Pietro Di Marino  had a lack of engineering knowledge.

The written word can throw us all on occasion.

Yeah, calm down Ianboydsnr Confused

UPDATE:

Left the wheel with me tyre fitter..... popped in this afternoon to collect it with new tubeless tyre fitted. He said his younger brother (Arron) looked at the wheel and fitted the new tyre with a tube, as it was indeed not safe without. He then said Arron should have just refitted the Avon to save cost of a new tyre - so I agreed and he said come back in an hour and it'll be sorted.

I now know these older cast wheels are defo a possible danger without tubes. Thanks all concerned for making this issue clear to me Thumbs Up

I'd forgotten that these wheels were tube type until I had some new tyres and the fitter asked if I wanted a new tube. "Can't they run tubeless?" I asked and he gave me a withering stare and explained that the rim profile was totally unsuited for tubeless tyres.

Since he is very experienced and does my MOTs I'm not going to argue!
