2 Ohms I think or somewhat under ~ think it has to be 4 Amps so means 1.5 Ohms with 12V.

OK so knacked coil then?

I meant of course 1.5 Ohms for each of 6V (12V total, coils in series) Wink

Oh right have just found out how to edit a post.

The 6V coils both measure 2.8 ohms but I fitted the org contact breaker with points and the 12 v coils it all works so it will stay I may, when i have the funds send the Rita to be checked and if needed sorted, but in no hurry for that.

Unfortunately you have to be very careful measuring very small resistances, just surface oxidation, even on the probe tips, can easily add 1 or 2 extra Ohms. Also if meter is a moving needle type the zeroeing of the needle can be inaccurate, then you have to add in tolerances. Even with a good quality DMM it can be problematic.

A mate who's a repair technician told me that he sharpens his probe tips, so that the sharp points can penetrate through any surface tarnishing etc. and get a good contact with the actual metal underneath of the connectors or wires he's trying to couple to.

You know I used to do this as every day stuff BUT when you do NOT use items daily you DO forget those skill sets. I will say I was knackered after the 10+ hr recovery process and for some idiotic reason my head would not get around the simple fact that with contact breakers the spark happens when the breakers OPEN.

Crazy how once you get tired then a bit flustered by daft things all knowlege , logic and sense seems to dissapear. The amount of times I have told others to walk away, sleep on it and it will be alot easier. Annie just came out with some food and a coffee laced with scotch and quietly said, "Hun don't you think you have done enough for today" ... saved me from hitting it with a hammer....

Next Day Ray asks if I need help and popped over, sometimes just good company makes a chore a pleasure and the task easier, job done easily within a shore time, all smiles.

Moral : When tired walk away AND ALWAYS accept the help from a friend, life somehow becomes alot easier with good friends !
