Got back last night.... we zig zagged down to East of Limoges, in the process we got baked (over 40 degrees on the first 2 days), soaked and dried out again - as always the roads were like velvet, and empty, though the French have discovered avererage speed cameras and they can go on for tens of KM - - not that we speed, ever!
Camp sites were around 8 Euros a night and largely empty - each tank of fuel was around 30 Euros and food has gone up just as it has here. All that said a very theraputic relaxing trip. For those eagle eyes that I know inhabit this forum, yes it is a hot wire coming out by the footpegs... the starter relay decided it was time to die on day 2 of the trip :( Mind you its been there since 2007 so you can't really complain

I've got the same Lomo bag as well. Went to Italy and got everything in it including tent, cooking gear, sleeping bag, clothes and spares. Easy to strap on and less likely to scuff paintwork than throw-over panniers. Only downside is that you can't divide stuff up inside or have quick access to anything. Highly recommended though.
