Good evening, I had similar issues, sent dash to Carmo and so on, no fault but not a thing when key switched on despite having power to the screen, horn, headlight flash and front sidelights, otherwise nothing. Checked all the switches, multiplug and so on, bought a s/h ecu and harness from a 2014 bike and began by changing the ecu (what a pig to get to!) however no result, finally traced it to a crushed wire where the tank sits, just before I was about to unplug everything and change the harness; repaired the wiring and resealed the loom, no problem at all. Original and replacement ecu's both scanned fine on the dash diagnostic, so left the original one in place and now have the 'spare' and the full harness to sell on. Let me know if you are interested and maybe we can arrange something.

Oh well, there's a full wiring loom and ECU if anyone has a need. Reasonable prices I think.
Best regards, Jeff

Think perhaps I need to post more entries to get to an appropriate 'level' and post there, no worries :)

Hi Jeff
I'm just resurrecting this thread from last year as my 2014 Norge is exhibiting similar symptoms to those that both you and the OP described. Can you remember please which wire it was that was crushed? I'm hoping to go straight to checking that first before I try all the more expensive and time-consuming stuff! Many thanks

Hi, There are a few things that can cause non starting in the CARC models. The most simple one being low battery voltage. These bikes have a threshold voltage below which the ecu wont kick in the starter.
Let us know what symptoms you are getting? |

It's pretty much the same as the OP in this thread - I turn on the ignition, the clocks sweep up and back. The red warning triangle illuminates but not the neutral light and then the ECU unplugged symbol appears. There's no stored errors but if the ECU is not properly connected then I guess there wouldn't be!
The one thing that does happen is one of the 2 4pin 30A relays under the seat starts clicking continuously. The battery is brand new and fully charged, showing 13.6v at rest. I've cleaned and/or replaced all the fuses and checked the continuity of the main earth from battery to starter motor (I think?) and that's good. I don't have the skills or tools to lift the tank so have stopped there, but have removed some of the easier fairing panels and checked behind them with a torch and cannot see anything untoward.

The earth to the ECU can make a bad connection to the frame, and this will cause that ECU disconnect symbol. It's a very short wire. Problem is you will almost certainly have to lift the tank to get to it as it's under the front end of the tank, above the alternator.

Thank you Brian, that's a massive help. The bike is going to a local bike shop on Tuesday for a service so while the tank is off they can replace this earth wire and hopefully all will be well again. I will probably also ask them to upgrade the start relay wiring at the same time just to be on the safe side!
