Selected the V85TT travel after a single test ride, couldn’t say no.
Picking up the bike on Monday, so looking forward to a ride home and finding new stuff about Guzzi’s.

Ok, picked up the bike, and enjoyed the ride home, the long way home. Brilliant machine.
However, just a couple of questions. 1- the heated grips aren’t activated when I pressed the relevant button. I’m asking the dealer, but in the meantime does anyone know how to activate them or use them? Manual is not very helpful! 2- there appears to be 3 electrical connectors under the seat, one for the extra usb connectors, one marked for the optimate charger (which doesn’t fit my optimate 2 connector), and another 6 point connector which I’m not sure what it would be used for. I have the travel model. Any thought anyone?

Have you received the recall notice relative to faulty valves?
If so please share your experience as I am considering to cancel my order if the repair is complex and not sustainable. Many Thanks Mitch

Not heard about the faulty valves or any recall. Can you provide more info and any sources? Thanks Mike

Hi Mike
Here is some information from the internet: Moto Guzzi recalls the V85 TT from 2021 because the valves must be replaced. According to the manufacturer, they do not meet quality specifications. It is possible that the faulty intake valves have caused damage to the cylinder heads, in which case these will also be replaced. In Germany, between 60 and 70 motorcycles already delivered are affected. The recall has affected the bike that I put a deposit on.. where the Dealer is now waiting on replacment parts before he can sell it to me...?? I would appreciate if you have any thoughts or further information from your experiience. |

Sounds like there is a quality issue with a batch of valves. If the valves are replaced to a standard installed in pre 2021 production models, then at least they have identified the issue and are fixing the issue. Knowing that 2019/20 models are on the road clocking 1000s of miles, the fix to provide valves manufactured to meet the required standard should provide a high level of confidence. Just my thoughts.

I have no knowledge of the V85 (although I rather wish I had!) but wonder if the multi-connector you describe is simply a diagnostic port for the ECU? The early Optimate connectors were rubbish in my experience. That fitted to my /4 is much more robust. Nick

Thank you, that seems obvious, once you think about it. 😁

I don't know the v85 either, but the diagnostic ports on all the other models is a 3 pin one as used by Fiat.
