There is a Centauro on e-bay ATM with what is claimed to be an "1100i cam chain conversion with automatic tensioner"
Any insights as to why one would do this? Perhaps the OE gears were crunched and the chain solution was cheaper or available? |

Yes it's mine, the gears that drive the cam belt (steel gear driving alloy, and a standard oil pump with no needle bearing) have been changed for the bomb proof chain with auto tensioner, and an oil pump with a proper bearing,

I did not know the Centauro/Daytona engine oil pump had no needle bearings.
That is really useful to know - thanks and GLWS
