Back then folk were proud of their homes it was a big deal if the front step looked dirty. They would be pumiced and the red stuff as would scullery tiles

Same with the washing, many used dolly tub. My Mum's First Washing machine was a Flatley a tub with paddle in it and a wringer. The pride they had in how whit shirts were I do not think today's society understands.

Back when I worked as an Insurance Agent (Over 35 yrs ago) Often got the complement that "Your wife gets your shirts white you must be proud!"

Never hear that nowadays hardly.

Stuff had to last a lot longer back then and quality always costs more but is worth it. I had an Aunt who still referred to the floor carpet as Grandad's new rug but it was at least 70 years old. Today stuff is cheap and not intended to last so pride of ownership is largely a thing of the past.
V7 Classic Black and gold was the best. But green & black was nice too. Now blue is in!

A Guzzi was always expensive to buy new but like a BMW cheap to buy an old one.
