hi all

Can anybody tell me the original finish of the swingarm on a V50. Mine has been painted (badly) at some point. I would like to return it to standard.

Thanks, Paul

All the V50 drive train castings that I have seen, mine included, were originally unpainted.

Usually just alloy to get it sorted contact Bike Aquablasting  they are Leics/Loughborough based loads of experience with bike and classic car parts not as aggressive than grit blasting leaves a nice satin finish that resists corrosion used them myself fantastic results contact Simon at Bike aquablasting

I used glass bead blast material in my cabinet (blanking off areas and holes that I did not want to mark) and then I coated the swingarm with engine clear coat and baked it in the oven! Two years later it looks great with no corrosion or flaking.

My Mk II was painted silver, though I don't know if that was original or not.

I suspect white paint on yours was not original.

Best silver paint I have ever found is Hammerite silver smooth as long as it is cleaned well the Hammerite smooth can be brushed on with a good quality brush the brush lines disappear the finish looks like alloy. It works well on cases/swingarm.... I use the satin black smooth on the frame

It was after being told they painted them white that I found traces on mine. Can't post pic, if look on line you will come across them.Even in original advertising.

My 1986 350 has the white swinging arm, since this bike has been in my possession sine 1988, I assume it is original
