Hi I am new to the forum. I have owned my V50 for over 10 years and enjoy riding it whenever I can and reasonable weather permitting. It sits in my garage alongside another V twin a Morini 350 left to me in his will by a good friend. They are chalk and cheese and although similar in proportion they ride and handle very different.
I have noticed that the gaiter to the universal joint on the Guzzi  is split and I have ordered a new one. How easy is it to replace this and what is the procedure? Anything to watch out for?
Thanks in anticipation.
Ron

Thanks Ken.
Sounds straight forward enough providing the swinging arm releases ok.
Any thoughts on the type of grease  to use.
Might wait until the garage is a bit warmer though and add it  to my pre riding season tasks.
Best wishes
Ron

Best not to ride before boot is renewed also the job can be done by just releasing swing arm but is made easier with a second pair of hands. The only fiddly bit is replacing the spacer on the right side of the swing arm

I use high melting point lithium grease BUT look in the manual for your bike there are free to download Workshop and owners manual online at Greg Benders "This old Tractor" web site. If you are going to work on your bike ... they are mostly simple however a manual will help you out. They list the basic stuff oil type/amts tyre sizes, oil change intervals and how to do these jobs.

For my bikes I have Haynes and Guzzi Workshop manuals as well as Guzziology 1 haynes/workshop stays in garage, gets mucky the other ones on bookshelf so i tend to look up things before doing jobs.

Guzziology is only really worth it if you have more than 1 bike and is alot less to download from Amazon

If you don't have it, here is the workshop manual.

Just remember try not to turn the cardan joint so when you refit the splines are still in line . It is a very easy job but it is easy to make small mistakes that make you question is it an easy job lol.
