I have a strange issue with my new (to me) 2009 1200Sport, the trip meters both reset to zero after only a few miles, the clock show the right time, speedo works normally too.
I just like to reset when refuelling to keep tabs on range etc Any suggestions on a fix please? |

Are you able to check the menus using the toggle switch on the left handlebar? It's possible there is a fault in that.

Check out for over tight cable ties on the left handle bar wiring loom, mine had a slight problem there

Hi
Has anyone ever managed to change the mg clocks for something else ? I seem to remember Tris mentioned it a while ago. Is it so difficulg to do ? The dash on my Breva is the one and only thing i dont trust on the bike. The rest of the quirks i can deal with but the dash just annoys me. Regards craig |

The button seems to do what it should, I can scroll thru menus, etc. I've had a good look around the bike now, tank and panels off, noticed the cable to the Oxford heated grips had rubbed and broken , all tied to the standard swirch wiring so I've removed all that and will see how it goes, a good squirt of contact cleaner here and there too. Just sorting a new tank and panel on the bike then I can get out and test it. Thanks for the tips all |

I've read lots about like for like swaps but not changing to something else. I've toyed with the idea of a wireless bicycle speedo to keep track of miles between fills if the standard clocks still have issues. What don't you trust about your clocks? My first ride after buying my bike saw me stranded on the side of the road having run out of fuel...seems the low level light wasn't working either! |

Hi
Believe me life is to short to go through the issues with these clocks. Thanks to this forum my saga has hopefully been sorted. Do a search on this and many other forums. Other than that the bike is a peach. Enjoy |

Unfortunately random failures on these dashboards seems to be the norm especially the earlier ones that suffered `misting` but even this was random ie. some did some didn`t. The later dashboards appear to have solved the problem due to their heavy use of sealant and modified breathers. The main problem was damp getting at the PCB thus no two dash`s reacted the same.
The large multiplug connector on the rear of the dash is worth checking and cleaning but be careful with the `chrome` plastic back cover as they are both fragile and virtually unobtainable CHRIS

Yes, certainly worth carefully unplugging the big connector on the dash, bit of contact cleaner and replace.

Might also be worth giving the speed sensor a check with a bright light and some magnification looking for cracks in the casing, blebs on the surface, etc that might suggest water ingress
The 12S is probably a bit different in this regard to my old B11, but that did all sorts of weird things before the sensor eventually got enough water in it to cause a short circuit and blow one of the fuses to the ECU

Is it an ABS model? If so it won't have the speed sensor, they use the front ABS sensor.

I hadn't appreciated that the ABS performed the function of the speed sensor as well.
Could the ABS sensor be playing up then?

That would most likely trigger an ABS fault indication. Presumably the ABS light goes out once moving?
