Are you sure the ignition key must be in the ignition barrel Brian. I have not yried this but if you put the correct key for the dash (donor bike key) next to the recipient bike key in the bike's ignition, the dash may recognise its own key chip. I believe the connection between dash & and the chip in the key is not a physical one. Tony

I may be wrong
But i seem to remember Stu saying something about this key reading during my dash saga. I think he suggested laying relevant keys across the ignition to get a signal Craig |

The connection between the dash and key is just the immobiliser chip. Yes, if you put the correct immobiliser for the dash close to the ignition switch the dash may well recognise it. The antenna is actually under the switch.

This maybe coming late, but I finally sorted out this issue today. The ECU 00 is cleared. No Errors on the dash. The problem is the injector. I just had a drive to replace it with the one I had before my trip today. And that was it. I am monitoring, but I am confident this is it. |

I think if the Dash 'sees' two different Keys, it might treat them the same as it does when seeing the wrong Key.
I've just picked up a second Stelvio, 2012, only has one key (but the previous owner is sure he'll find the other one). I've tried to find the code, it's not; 00000 (Factory default) 10695 (Stelvio Service code) 12345 (common Dealer code, apparently) 54321 Last five digits of the Engine Number Last five digits of the VIN.
Previous owner doesn't know, so I'll have to try contacting the Dealer(s) that have done Services on it, or the original Dealer that sold it from new. I had a play with my 2009 too, went straight to Code Recovery in the Dash Menu. When prompted for the 2nd Key, I first tried the Cloned one I got from Timpsons in 2019, no good, but the second original Key did it, so I now know the code for that at least. I was thinking though, is the code stored only in the Dash memory? If so, will a brand new Dash be on the 00000 Factory Code? |

There was a long topic here some time back discussing some kit that could read said code from the EPROM.

Possibly the Dealer P.A.D.S. Tool?
Guess what I just found scribbled in the front of the Service Book? 01234 I've now set it to the Service Code. |
