I need to get the old paint off the mudguards and side panels of the V50 III I am working on. Can anyone suggest a method that isn't too aggressive? I'm not even sure what type of plastic these bits are made of. Thanks!

The `plastics are ABS but in the case of the side panels they are especially delicate around the fixing points. I used cellulose thinners to remove old paint but found more layers underneath so my son, who does my painting, recommended just a good rubbing down before he applied etching primer.

Yes ABS. If it's cracked, weld it up with Plastic Weld.

Yes I'd heard or read Plastic Weld was good for repairs - but for paint removal? Wet and dry and elbow grease is best?
