i'm lucky enough to live very near Moffat, which is where a fantastic run up the A701 devils beeftub starys and heads up to Penicuik, where my folks live. Only about 40 miles, but great fun flying past the rice rockets on the Lemans Cafe racer! Another good road from Moffat is the st Marys loch road to Selkirk. To be honest quite spoilt for choice around here, plus of course the Scottish Borders are also well known as being the driest and warmest part of the UK too.......Wink

Anyone can ride in the warm and dry ......whole different ball game in the wet, cold and its blowing a hoolie  Clap
fairly envious of the roads you have up there ....and the lack of peeps around to clog them up.

Having been introduced to the 'Moffat Loop' recently, I totally agree that the borders has a great deal to offer. In the past it was an area we always just past on journeys south. The Moffat Loop has been described as one of the U.K.s best motorcycle rides (Ride Magazine) I think. Living in Argyll and Bute, we are lucky to have a fantastic number of great roads and are on the doorstep of the Highlands, Perthshire and Grampian to name but a few, but the Scottish Borders has certainly convinced me to explore a bit.

I stayed at the Buccleuch Arms Hotel in Moffat last week. Four days of excellent riding - up from Harrogate via North York Moors and Tan Hill Inn and then A66 and M6/M74, day two east to Kielder and back, third day Galloway Gallop, and fourth day back via North Pennines AONB and Reeth.

Strong recommendation for the Buccleuch. The owner/sons/wife are all keen bikers and have plenty of suggestions for a long days riding. The hotel courtyard is full of little sheds for your bike. The clientele were definitely a more senior crowd, with plenty of KTM/BMW/V-Strom adventure bikes in evidence.

Cheers
