Hi

Having just read the Big Block section of back issues so to speak, 45 pages on this site and 39 on another well known site,TWICE I am going nuts, I know I read it somewhere but can't find it again.

For plug leads - Good old fashioned copper core yes?

What is the recommended plug cap NGK please

Only read it the other day and didn't write it down.

Cheers

Ian

Definitely see the NGK plug caps recommended here, and elsewhere. I have them fitted, and when I acquired another MG the items fitted by PO were very quickly binned for NGK's- never any cause to regret that.

Copper core, I'm tempted to say "oh yes", but happy to let someone who talks Lectrick to speak to that.

Copper leads definitely. Not sure what the resistance of the caps should be.Someone will be along soon with that info'.

Copper core HT leads, resistive plug caps and non resistive plugs.

Green spark plug company helpful

Copper leads with little rubber boots on the end
10k screw on plug caps
Ordinary non resistive plugs , maybe iridium if you fancy , but no R in their part number
Proper job

Yes, I should have said that too.

Many use the Green Spark Plug company.

I tend to check resistance of plug leads /caps regardless of motorcycle brand at service time as a means of preventive maintenance . 5k ohm seems to be the standard . NGK LD05 is 5k ohm and LD10 is 10kohm.
The only Points  fired ignition bike I currently have is an Enfield . I've found the best results are copper wire ign lead,  5kohm cap and non resistor plug . I did mistakenly fit a resistor plug with a resistor cap at one stage and the results weren't great. Technically I'm not sure  what  difference electrically speaking , fitting a plain non resistor cap and a resistor plug would   have?

If you have plain copper lead then 10k is correct

An R resistive plug has an internal 5k resistor built into the ceramic body and this works hand in hand with a 5k plug cap.
The total shouldn't exceed 10k
