There you go. Try "Simply Bearings" on line or Gutsibits |

I had a great result just took my wheel bearings to a bearing supplier it took him about five seconds to identify and match them. Got them over half the price of Gutsibits and Timken make so good.
I had a good chat with him and he said bring all your bearings, seals and O rings and he should be able to match the lot. Cheers Ian

Thanks Dave P and all 30205 seems to be there in all types bar one.
Is there a comprehensive list on this forum for all parts which are common to models as there seems to be a lot of commonality but guaranteed to get wrong part when it's expensive !. Thanks again.

I'm responding on the technique to install your replacement bearings. I'm picky on handling and years ago my Lemans 1000 had the slightest head shake on coast down or on highway on ramps at 40-50mph. I adjusted the steering head as usual practice with no improvement, so even thought the mileage didn't warrant new bearings (less than 12k miles) I replaced them. Well when I worked to remove the originals I found out why my adjustment wasn't working as the inner races were a light press fit. My previous adjustments weren't really changing anything. Since I damaged my originals in the removal process, I did replace them. My recommendation on installation if yours are fit like my Lemans is as follows. Shoot AC refrigerant down the steering stem prior to installing the bearings. Then adjust twice as tight as normal, then back off and then snug as normal. My steering head has been good up to the present with 45k additional miles. BTW over years of experience I've found it not uncommon for tapered roller bearings to seat-in a bit when new and good to last a long long time after one effective adjustment.

I've ordered the new bearings and experienced all the problems possible with getting forks out and race off stem etc.I like these heating /cooling ideas and note the tighten loosen tip.
Thanks. |
