I love the Sporti, but can see that the riding position is getting more uncomfortable as I get older - but really cannot get rid of the old girl.
I saw this photo on Instagram and it looks like this bike has a more touring ridding position and still looks good to me. I asked the person who posted the photo is they know the owner or builder, but got nothing back. Anybody on here any thoughts on this? Thanks |

I had a 96 carb sport. Helibars I think had a set for them to raise the bars. I don't know if they did one for the i a sit has different forks, but I believe they are still in business.
I also had an aftermarket center stand on mine with the stock exhaust. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that, very useful.
Where did you get the after market centre stand? The side stand on the Sporti is not great.

I got it at moto international, but that was along time ago. They may still be able to source them. The side stand is criminal. I only sold mine because my legs are too short :D

Agree about the side stand. Will Google moto international now.

Take heart Guzzis3, if they reach the ground they are just right.

Not seen a silver coloured Sporti before - looks good, shame about the legs though!

Ah yes, I see the problem.
Softer springs, more ¨South Australian Floaters¨ and platform soles should see you right. Nice bike by the way.

My bike is not a sport injected, it's a carb. I backed off preload and did everything I could to get it lower but you just run out of space. You'd lose half your shock stroke.
Note the bike is on the center stand I mentioned previously. The side stand is rubbish. That photo was taken maybe 15 - 20 years ago. Bit of trivia. First time I sat on it it felt uncannily familiar. I took a tape measure to it and found the relationship between the clipons seat and pegs is exactly the same as a bevel SS/750S/MHR. Everything is higher off the ground and the seat is really wide, which is why I can commute on a bevel but never on the sport. The other thing that struck me is how it feels just like a bevel in corners except the steering doesn't load up at low speed, you don't have to chain yourself to the bike and throw yourself off to get it through hairpins AND it idles at 1000 rpm reliably and pulls below 2000. So guzzi built a bike more like a ducati than ducati did and more reliable than ducati ever could. They are a properly incredible bike, but only for people with longer legs than mine :( and IMO the most beautiful bike guzzi has ever made.
