My old bicycle had "World Tour" on the tyres, which proved something of an embarrassment around the village, but at least they didn't say Goodyear.

engrave yourself unless you have a very steady hand and the gear to do it will never end well, better to search for a specialist but that may cost as much as replacing the switchgear

From what I can see in the pic, and what I remember, the legends weren't that great anyway.

God I can remember stabbing for the horn "button" (the yellow rocker bottom left), missing it, and turning all the lights off instead. Was the Spada, I don't think I'd had it long. LOL

At least you can't flash the lights by accident......

That rocker switch is one of the daftest ideas I've come across.

A squeeze horn? Yes, seriously. It's in addition to a working electric horn, but in itself, in the UK, it would constitute the legal requirements for a 'horn' to be fitted (where required).

In my case, it was fitted for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride a few years back, but it has proved its real-world worth when I go to park in the centre of the City of Oxford, in a street where the tourists apparently don't know the difference between a road and a footpath. I have a hunch that they'd be more likely to shift their arses were I to swap the 'parp-parp hooter' for a bicycle bell.

Oh, it's also proved useful when filtering, believe it or not, and *seems* to be perceived as less aggressive than the full on horns. As is the case, too, with the tourist hordes.

I seem to remember that after a certain date, the horn must emit a continuous note. But as an auxiliary "ornament", fine.

Of course you could always fit a set of air horns playing Dixie.......

Post '73, I think, but this horn is older than that.

The Dixie air horns would be a fail. Reasons for rejection: "..a motor bicycle fitted with a gong, bell. siren or horn which emits two or more alternating tones"

Reminds me. Crossing the road in San Francisco
, I couldn't work out where the bloody horse was, but could clearly hear one whinnying. Turns out, Mustang owners fit them, I was told. Horns that whinny, that is, not horses.

A Norton Commando I had was fitted with air horns (by the previous owner). They were very loud and effective (not playing Dixie or any other tune). The problem was it took a couple of seconds for the compressor to spin up so by the time they came on the reason for using them had gone.....

I fitted a pair of Fiamm type windtones (powered through a relay of course) after that and they were excellent. I kept meaning to rig up something so that I could only use the low tone in town, keeping the full discordant effect for the high road, but never got round to it.

I had an MOT tester threatening to fail the Norge because I had a Stebel Nautilus fitted. I had to point out the meaning of the word "alternating".Confused
