I am going through my check list of things to consider for the trip to Italy, most websites recommend bringing your own straps for securing your motorcycle on a ferry.  Does this also apply to the Eurotunnel?

Never been on it, so any advice would be most useful.

no straps needed, not even sure there is a facility.  it sits on your side stand and you sit beside it.  bike and rider are not separated.  you will be in company of lots of other bikers and you can have a chat or do some work on your route.

personally i sit at the side and try not to get motion sick Dead

Straps are not needed on the train, it's a very smooth ride and bikes just stand still, with front wheel into the kerb and side stand down. Some attendants say put it in gear others don't mention it.

It's a bit of an experience so enjoy it,,,oh, and if you have a top mounted helmet cam or are Darth sized be careful riding through the train!Embarrassed

I've done the Chunnel twice. Once we just sat on the floor by the bikes in car type carriages the other time there were front wheel clamps and we had seat.  Can't remember which was the most recent!
Either way, no straps needed.

Beware once you get on your way off the train at Calais. Often a speed camera van somewhere near the petrol station as you come around off the train. The limit is surprisingly low around here although it is two lanes and feels like you are starting out on an A-road / motorway already. I've ridden often as a small group and we usually have a stop at the petrol station and have the normal re-group / emergency pee / bottle of water pre-journey stop. Have fun.

Never noticed that. But there are often police vehicles around, deterring would be immigrants to Britain.
