+1.  Had our usual week in April thrashing around (to Le Mans, this time via Bordeaux!). Nothing seemed to have changed.  Don't take the p*** in town, look for the signs where they tell you a camera will be (usually somewhere sensible like a dodgy junction) and enjoy the quieter roads.

Thanks

If you are using the minor rads in France, watch out for signs saying Gravillons. They mean the road ahead has been covered with ball bearings, and can be a couple of inches deep on corners. They rarely sweep up the gravel after tarmacing, and they use a smaller gravel size.

We went to Gedinne last year in MX5, never saw a speed camera or trap. Got back, got fine in post;

'Vehicle checked at 105km/h, speed limit 90 km/h, speed used is 99 km/h'

Fine category was 'Exceeding the speed limit by less than 20 km/h - maximum speed more than 50 km/h'

That was near Roubaix on a minor road, 'D', I think. euros 45

Ah, gravillons.

A few years ago I was in France on the 955 Tiger and encountered them - about 10cm deep and banked up all over the road. I was tiptoeing along very gently when this scooter came whizzing past me - ridden by a teenage girl with her helmet on the back of her head and open jacket flapping in the breeze.

I was convinced at the time there was also a Gitane drooping from her lips but she slalomed off so fast I can't be sure......
