Just thought I would post some photos of the stop tail bulb I fitted on my Breva. Seems to work quite well.

Groovy. I thought you had to have red legs to shine red through the lens, or is that a trick of the light?
Where did you get it from?

I find my white legs work quite well. LOL

A red LED will shine through a red lens, a white LED contains all colours so will also shine through a red lens. The original bulb is white after all.

But a red LED will give a much more deep (saturated) red. If the rear light doesn't also have to illuminate the number plate I would always fit a red LED.

I bought them from Ebay - £3.50 for 2. I'll let you know how long they last.

The one thing which kills LEDs is too much voltage. So provided your system is in good order they should last a lifetime. Unless of course they turn out to be nasty cheap crap which hopefully they won't.

I recently fitted an LED stop/ tail lamp to my 850 GT. The light was reasonable but when the brake was applied the difference was hard to see.I put the bulb back and all was well. Am I missing a trick here or is it just down to the quality of the LED?

I had exactly the same problem, it was a bulb from Paul Goff, not cheap. The problem was cured when one of the bayonet pins fell out and the bulb went in the bin

I'm using standard 1157 bulb replacement LED's (red BTW) from an auto parts in the USA (Auto Zone) in my Lemans 1000 which has two bulbs.  The brake lights are noticeably brighter when the brake is engaged as they should.  I only went to LED's to aid low rpm battery charging since I have the additional electric load of HV coils over stock.

Some do indeed show very little difference between tail and brake lights. Problem is you can't tell until you have bought it as no seller actually tells you.
