I prefer riding a naked bike (ooer) so have removed the small standard screen over the clocks. I am out in the lake district tomorrow with rain forecast and I have begun to wonder if the clocks are waterproof enough on their own or actually benefit from the limited cover the screen would provide. Any one got a view on this or experience of water ingress?

I think those clocks need all the help they can get.

The two Breva 750's I've owned so far didn't have problems with water getting in the clocks.

Thanks everyone, mixed advice then, so I will play safe for now. Screen on.

Hmmm, don't like the turbulance. Cutting down a screen would help but I don't want to butcher a perfectly good one. Any one got a damaged one I could purchase to, um, modify?

This prefer to ride a nekid bike, purely aesthetic reasons?

Maybe just put the screen back on and leave it at that. Necessity being the mother of whatsitsname. Big smile

No, not aesthetic problem, just find the extra noise (even from such a small screen) is a nuisance and to be honest, I don't get any significant benefit from it. The instruments might, hence my initial question.

OK yes I think the clocks would benefit from having the screen, at least they shouldn't get full force horizontal raindrops.

I ran my Breva through the summer last year without  a screen  but fitted a small flyscreen for winter and found like you that turbulence  is horrendous  (and on any naked bike i've owned  with a screen fitted)

The clocks haven't leaked so far ( less than 2 years)
i think an MRA screen like the one in the  link below  might be the answer but I'm not prepared to gamble  a  wad of cash without a road test!

All very interesting, I've always insisted on having a screen or fairing of some description on all my bikes for many years yet don't seem to get this turbulence that you speak of, or, I do in fact, but I've so gotten used to it that I don't recognise it as such. LOL

I prefer a screen myself, though the standard screen on the Breva is more cosmetic than effective. Getting the height right is critical in my experience. I fitted a tall screen sourced from Guzzibits on one Breva, and had to fit an extender as all the turbulence was concentrated just in the wrong place around the head and face.
I have the genuine Guzzi screens fitted to my Tontis', and they are much better. They might look bit of a barn door, but they work well, help prevent you getting covered in flies in the summer, and make a couple of degrees or so difference to windchill in the winter.

Okay, I grant you a short "cosmetic" screen could be a problem.
