Occasionally I'll go into the forum then realise there's something else I need to do urgently so load another unrelated page. When I return to the forum everything thinks it's been read. I know the real answer is to use another tab but advancing years means I don't always do what I should. Is there any way of switching this off or is it a "feature"? Firefox 64 bit, Windows 10 Pro.

I've been caught out too. The answer is read everything at once and don't leave anything for later, and don't log off and on again. Looking at another site in another tab is usually OK provided the forum tab is still loaded.

Certainly using a different tab will leave all the unread items marked - usually. Though I have had the odd hiccup. But that's using the letest posts bit at the bottom of the front page.

I usually pop in in the morning and because of the huge popularity of the site the latest posts section is overflowing. It would be nice if it could be bigger (as the actress said to the bishop).

Can you not just look at the "new posts" tab top of the screen? It's there on both Classic and Mobile view. |

I tend to look at the latest posts section on the front page first, then if that's full, I go to the other. The benefit of the New Posts button is that you can change the time you want to go back, so if you did visit, then went on to another page momentarily you can go back to the New Posts and set it to read the last2, 4 or more hours, since you were last here.
