hi, does anyone know if it is still possible to get hold of V50II 1980 fuel tank cap/ cover ( plastic rectangle thing)
If not is there an alternative way to deal with tidying up this area?

What does "tidying up this area" mean? That is, what's the problem ![]() Always hated the look of those plastic ones. I bought a 2nd hand Spada tank to put on the 850 and expected it to have the nice smooth metal flap with separate screw-in cap underneath, like my Spada had. Instead I got the blocky plastic monstrosity. So I phoned them up (Motorworks) and he said yes that's right Spada Mk 1 had the plastic ones, changed to the metal style later; if yours was a Mk 1 it must have been made during a "transition period" when they'd not got up to full-on Mk 2 yet. But had the Mk 2 tank. ![]() They didn't have any alternatives. ![]() |

It may be worth checking out Ebay as there are several complete Mk2 tanks on there that may be cheaper than shipping in the new item from America. Or even change the lot for a Mk3 tank with metal flap, at least Mike would be placated

Tidying up means , Not looking like an old black plastic box has been stuck on top of the tank. Especially as mine has faded the red switch thing in the middle has been superglued in, looks terrible

That's my main gripe about it right there ![]() Unfortunately changing it for something else (anything else!) not that simple due to the filler hole is designed for the horrible plastic sprung plug type of 'cap'. Couldn't see how to make it work with anything else. |

I’m Thinking whether it would be possible to have the current fitting removed off the top of the tank and have a more traditional fitting braised on, to except say a screw type cap. Maybe too much like hard work!!
