Thought I'd check the diagnosis errors on the dash.
The function select button has a much better feedback/feel on this bike than my old 05 Breva so entering codes wasn't hapdash as before. 36421. From Service Station Manual 981018 BREVA V1200 - ABS Breva1200ABS_042013_Atelier(GB) From Service Station Manual 854310 BREVA V1100 - ABS Breva1100ABS_122007_At(GB) and Breva1100ABS_042013_Atelier(GB) ECU errors were clear. Instrument Panel Errors had history. 1 Immobilizer failure: Key code read but not recognised 2 Immobilizer failure: Key code not read (Key not present or transponder not working) 3 Immobilizer failure: Aerial not working (Open or short-circuited) 5 Fuel sensor failure 7 Oil sensor failure All clear now but I'd like to know more about 1, 2 and 3. I have both keys and both start the bike. Over the weekend, reseting the user code has become a priority, just to tick that off the virtual list of things to-do. So: Diagnosis (36421 button switch Breva ABS 06) Changing the CODE Enter old code and then the new code to be stored in the memory. Default user code is: 00000 Resetting the CODE I may not have the user code so I'll have to reset using at least two of the programmed ignition keys, which I have. After the first key has been inserted a request for INSERT KEY II (If not inserted within 20 seconds, the operation finishes). After recognising KEY II, a new code is required, ENTER NEW CODE. Once completed, the screen goes back to the SET-UP menu. Right then, it's not actually located under the Menu heading Diagnosis but under Settings (Trip selector at MODE as usual). I thought I'd better clear up the "I don't know the code" question tonight. I have. I now have a new code having "Recovered" the User Code using both keys. Now I did read Brian UK's tip about purchasing a used bike and having the USER CODE. The Manual that came with the bike had 3 hand written codes, but these were the service codes "36424 or 36421 or 28315" with 36421 circled. Don't know the other codes. At the time of purchase I thought one might be the USER CODE. Luckily I did try both key to check they worked with the bike and they did. As luck continued, I found I could use both keys to set my own USER CODE without knowing the old. Job done, one off the virtual To-Do list. Edited by stu - 25 May 2019 at 12:07 |

Yes, if you buy a bike with both keys, you can set your own security code. Problem arises when only one key is available.

The positive i now found since sending my clocks to scorpion electronics is he can tell you the stored user code in the clocks when he bench tests them.
Very clever guy Craig |

Also I did 250 miles at weekend with my dodgy clocks not a single issue
Just had to pull the main fuse when we stopped for more than 30 min to avoid battery drain The breva ran like a dream. I will be pulling the tank off soon to unclip speed sensor to see if that is my problem then onto ecu plugs and earths |

Good to know there is a way to recover User Code if unknown and only one programmed ignition key available.
Glad I had a second programmed ignition key to reset the User Code though. With weather being as it is and my clocks misting, thought I'd better take them apart to check condition. Seals were shot but PCB is in very good nik. Dial side, with LEDs and hand stems. The side that usually displays corrosion. Here, very clean. Giving it all a good clean before assembly. Probably make a video too.

I'll see about a video over the weekend.
Some things to bear in mind while the video is in production are: Reseal using any type of sticky will make future disassembly hard. I thought about using an inner tube cut to suit. Greenhouse glass rubber seal may also work. Removing the chrome bezel to uncover the screws may be easier using cut pieces of thin plastic from a soap bottle or butter tub. Just slide down from the top where the clasps are. Care taken if removing the hands and note 0 position for stems when attaching again. Hands are a tight fit. Only 3 vents appear to be used. The bottom vent is blind, possibly because it's below the outer chrome cover for protection. There appears to be a small well in the case casting bottom left corner of the LCD surround where the lower mounting screw attaches the clocks to the frame. This could hold a small amount of water and could benefit from being filled in. Vaseline or grease may help with a seal and not silicone :)

I think that silicone grease would do it. I got some from a plumbers merchants to stop a leaky mixer tap and it did the trick. Saved me a fortune for a new tap. You just need to apply it carefully and remove any excess so it doesn't leave smears.

Note the small hole made at the lowest point of the case to drain any moisture.

I'm not too sure on adding holes as there no real feedback to prove a fix.
What causes the water to ingress? Is it low mileage bike that stood in rain and rushed undercover and left or power washed bikes. Do the holes or slits drain water? Water surface tension sticks to components. Holes at the bottom of the clocks may let in as much as they let out. I admit to drilling two holes (from inside to out) in my last Breva dash but after thought, why! If there's that much water to get rid of there's a bigger problem to solve. That's my 10pence worth :)

There is considerable feedback on other forums, specifically Guzzitech. Those who have made small holes at the bottom have reported no further problems with misting. I have seen pictures of the PCB completely wrecked due to sitting in a puddle.
