Not a single bid actually. 8 people watching.

Not a single bid, and the auction has only 'buy it now' or 'make an offer' options, so - as has been observed - the market for this particular item apparently is not there, at the 'buy it now' price. If someone makes a lower offer, and that is accepted, the watchers will not be aware of the selling price.

I suspect the watchers are only doing so out of morbid curiosity to see if anyone is daft enough to pay that price.

ah, yes, thats right, it is a 'buy it now/make an offer' as opposed to an auction. I had not previously noticed that

I am gong to make an offer of £30.

Exclamation...Breaking news... Exclamation: I made the offer of £30. He has come back to me with a counter offer of 490 euros, which is an 8 euro discount from the asking price of 498 euros.

Ha! What's Italian for chutzpah

Mind you, I've got a pair of fag packet panniers that I think I'm going to get round to parting with and scarcity vs. 'people seem to want them' is going to require me to bold in y asking price  (o;

In my case it's more about reducing the accumulation, speculatively hoping to raise some of the cash required to cover the costs of a few Guzzi-related jobs. It's nice when the spares pile actually funds a worthwhile upgrade/rebuild/repair, etc.

Doubly so when the bits go to someone who absolutely needs what you have for their own project.

I expect he bought it for about 475 Euros and is just trying to make an honest living.

One of the drawbacks of owning a Guzzi single is that anything you need has to be bought from La Bella Italia and believe me they have some wacky prices. I don't understand why . None of my Italian friends pay full price for anything so maybe these sort of prices are for the Brits?

No, it's still showing available.

I have put Domino switch gear on my bikes as they are reasonably cheap, look ok (to me) and work perfectly. I didn't have Moto Guzzis in the 1970's / 80's as I couldn't afford one, and it's only hearsay but I understand that the switches weren't all that reliable when they were new?

I suppose that they do look "period" though and enhance the originality theme.
I had a LM1 in the early 80s the the left hand switch gear fell to bits whilst I was on holiday in Wales. I had to ride back from Llandudno to Conwy at night without any lights. After that I put Honda MB50 switchgear on. the bike must have been about 5 or 6 years old at the time.

My convert has the same LM switchgear, it’s 39 years old, the left one has a screw fitted holding the light switch together, but it still works fine,

My cafe racer is fitted with Yamaha switch gear, though I rewired the bike completely, if the conver switchgear fails, I will fit modern stuff in place, I wouldn’t spend that sort of cash on replacing the old stuff, but I guess that depends on if you want a top dollar sales price for an original  LM

Are you suggesting that the switchgear fitted will make a £400 difference to the bike's value?

I assume that’s directed at me!

If you have a mint original LM with broken RH switch gear, it might,

For me it never would, and I guess for many others it wouldn’t, so it’s a small market it’s targeted at, a rare market that means it’s unlikely to sell,

I have the same problem sourcing parts for my R80G/s,

I had a broken speedo, one turned up on eBay for £1000, used but supposedly refurbished, I eventually sent mine to the USA to be rebuilt, it cost 200 dollars, but if that wasn’t possible, I would have fitted an aftermarket electronic one at £350, no way would I shell out a grand for a simple speedo.
