Hi Guys,

Looks like I didn't get a clear enough picture as to whether the silencers are inboard or outboard of the rear mounting lugs before I stripped it.  Can anyone advise please?
Outboard doesn't look right but it does alleviate the slight left side foul with the centre stand when it is up!

Cheers

PS Just finalising reinstallation of looms and then there's nothing much more to do.  I was pleasantly surprised how easily bleeding the brakes went - even just by myself

Be sure the front pipes are correct get them on the wrong sides you will have issues mounting silencers.... I always put front pipes on loose then H then fit to silencers .... that way you can line up my silencers are out side BUT they are not Guzzi ones they are aftermarket stainless

Thanks Ken.  I didn't have any issues with fouls any where else such as on the sump etc so can I assume they are the right way round?

I must admit when I was polishing them I did a back to back comparison and didn't notice any difference but I may have missed it.  Looking at the other recent similar thread seems I would have had much more significant alignment issues?

I have the slight crank in the H section orientated so it is pointing up BTW

Cheers

So the handing issue with the headers is just on the length, is that correct please?

I guess it will depend partially on what type of silencers you have fitted, as Ken has pointed out.

I've seen the original Lafranconi's fitted on the inside AND the outside of the mounting plates!

My own Lafranconi's are fitted on the inside of the plates I made up when I made my rear-sets (basically replicating the SP1000 set-up). It was where they seemed to fit naturally.

Thanks guys.  My cans look standard and are stainless, but have no makers idents on them.  Reckon I will probably end up putting them on the outside to overcome the foul, or at least the LH one which fouls

If you have a slight kink up in the H piece and it is stainless possibly it may be O&S ones older ones he did build in the bolt so you did not need a clamp the other thing different are the oem ones have a long tapered end that fits deep into the silencer O&S do not He normally does stamp them O&S tho.... My l/h one fits outside

Yes cylinders are offset, one is further forward (can never remember which), by about half an inch or so, so the downpipes are different lengths. Definitely L & R. Once mounted on the exhaust ports, the ends should line up, looking at them sideways. Ken's right put it all together loose, mount the silencers to the hangers then "adjust" as required, tighten everything up.

I seem to remember a notch was worn in my mainstand "deployment tang" (the sticking out sideways bit you put your boot on to push it down) caused by the bottom welded seam of the silencer.
