On my mk 2, I made counter balance springs to fit on the carbs, I doesn't make it much lighter but when you have the throttle open in a set position, ie on motorways etc, it takes very little effort to hold it open, in that position. Iv'e done over 100,00 mls since I did mine. Let me know if you want more info.

I've just bought this - rubber covered with stretchy rubber strap, doesn't stick out as much as a Crampbuster so may be less of an issue when pulling on the brake lever. "League & Co throttle control / cruise control assist / cramp stopper"

I modified a crampbuster to go under my thumb on the inside end of the twistgrip. Shortened it too so it wasn't in the way so much.

There are also big differences between makes of cables. A friend af mine has a Guzzi (of course..) trackbike which is really, really superlight on the throttle grip. I haven't looked into his Dell'Ortos yet, but on the throttle cable it says: 'Shimano'.
Sorry, don't know wheres and hows, but I would guess you can but these by the meter or foot and roll your own, so to speak. Ciao Lars W Norway
