The one place relays will really make a difference is on the headlight main and dip. Use a direct feed to the relay from the battery and the main and dip feeds from the switch to control the relays and you get much brighter lights.

Good idea ! Can you count on a normal relay to cope with being switched on semi permanently, or does it require a specific type ?

Normal 30A relay will be fine. That's 30A contact rating.

Well I have found myself some period LM1 switches after a search. What I am considering doing now is fitting a relay or two to take the pressure off the light switches. 

I think Chris said he had done this in order to save his delicate switches. Would it be possible to explain how this is done and where the relay goes ?
