Hoping someone can help.....
I have just purchased a 2005 Breva 1100 with 15,500 miles recorded. Been out for rides about four times this week, each time the ignition is turned on the red Alarm light stops on left of neutral light, and SERVICE is displayed in the odometer digital display. By turning off the ignition, waiting 10 seconds and turning on again Alarm light doesn't show and SERVICE has gone, so all is normal for starting. My query is...What needs to be done to stop this happening? Cheers....Roy

You need to look into the diagnostics section of the on board meny on the dash. Then you can look for error codes and clear them. Though you do need to know what those errors are in case it's important. Was it a private sale? If you bought it from a dealer than take it back and get them to rectify it. You could also try it with a private sale. To access the diagnostics you will need the Breva service code, Breva 850 & 1100 -- 36421 or 36424; With joystick: 28315 A list of the error codes can be found here.

Thanks Brian.
A private sale. After my second ride and the display of SERVICE etc I managed to delete two errors in the diagnostic menu in DSB, 04 and 07 were displayed under the M symbol, during my third ride out the SERVICE again was displayed with the same 04 and 07 errors. So am I right in thinking this is an on going problem and needs attention???? Regards, Roy

04 is a problem with the immobiliser, there is an aerial loop under the ignition switch and sometimes this can have a bad connection into the loom. 07 is the oil pressure switch not testing out. This happens quite often and is when you try to start the bike, you get oil pressure, then the engine stops for some reason, so you restart. But the oil pressure is still there, so the switch contacts are open and the ECU thinks there is a fault. But it could be a faulty switch, or the connector onto it which have also been known to give problems. 08 means lack of oil pressure so should be taken more seriously.

M is for memory - i.e the system detected a fault and memorised it but its not active now
My B1100 would get the 07 oil pressure switch warning regularly UNTIL I change the end connector to the correct one for the pressure switch fitted and I've not had a problem since

An x in the Active or Memory column means that fault is there or has been there. An O means clear. The ECU only shows active errors. Then look in the list to see what they mean. Admittedly the description isn't always that helpful.

Roy,
For the immobilizer error, you could try disconnecting the battery and leaving the key "ON" overnight. It gives the system a reboot when you reconnect and turn the key on again. Works for Fords, too! |

I have replaced the oil pressure switch. The spade connection wasn't very tight so pliers to nip up, ACF 50 applied to hold back any corrosion.
While air box is out.....cleaned up all electrical connection blocks, cleaned all four spark plugs, oiled throttle cables. check K&N air filter. Took bike out for a 20 mile run and all looks fine and no error lights etc showing.

That's good. The oil pressure switch could just have been the loose terminal, but at least you now know it's all good.
