I had a phone call from a nice young lady a few days before last Christmas. She asked me to finish off a restoration for her.
I wrongly assumed it was just a matter of bolting a few parts back together. Turns out she'd paid someone a fair amount of money upfront who had got as far as stripping the bike down, and having the frame/tank/ wheels painted then gave up. It then took a year to get the bike back. This is how he'd left it.

The finished bike looks utterly lovely, but I dread to think of the cost of actually paying someone to do all that work π±

You're not Guy Martin in the 'Real World' are you? ... Moving swiftly on, that Bike ~ Lovely job. I'm in awe of anyone that actually takes a box of bits and really does bring a Bike back to life. Many talk about it / not many of us actually DO it. Fair Play to you.

Good Job Steve, the owner must be over the moon.
The engine casings & fins have come up well, what did you do to turn such doggy aluminium into something to be proud of? Tony

The total cost of the project was £3800, so not too bad I guess.

Thanks Tony. I used scotch brite mops to clean up the casings. The cylinders were blasted with a fine glass bead.
