I know Ian will not agree but the thought of my Monza having something in common with an old Land Rover is quite a worry

I don't suppose they're doing it out of charity.  Finding another frame might be cheaper!

Yes, thanks for that, there are several frames on there but none are Monza PE frames which would retain the authenticity of the machine, however I haven`t given up on the DVLA

After applying for a certificate of origin in the hopes that all the original numbers would have been on it, Moto Guzzi have replied to say that after 1967 they did not record engine numbers.
So back to the drawing board which currently stands at 30+ garages/dealers that will not stamp my frame.
The phrase `rock and hard stuff` comes to mind
Still smiling though

What woes. You surely have our sympathy.

The words "just needs a NOVA" are what convinced me not to buy the bike that I had been looking for for a very, very long time. I feel no remorse.

Chris,
Just had this in my usual V50 / V35 feed from Ebay :-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V50-III-Frame-With-V5-Monza-Imola/174114822560?hash=item288a0d59a0:g:LeAAAOSw54Nd5kc-

Not sure if it's any use to you but might make a starting point...

Cheers,
Adrian

This is GUTSIBITS on Ebay unfortunately it`s a V50/3 frame which would likely downgrade my bike to a Monza replica because of the frame number
Thanks for thinking of me anyway

Chris,
You are welcome, sorry it was not of any use.. Hope you find a way to get your problem sorted.

I have found that when dealing with public bodies / Govt departments that they do contain intelligent life forms, it's just that they are hidden behind loads of lesser beings whose sole purpose is to fob you off and do nothing to help..

Once when dealing with HMRC after protracted phone calls with various depts over several weeks I got brassed off and asked the last unfortunate specimen how I went about raising a formal complaint... I was magically transferred instantly to a very helpful "supervisor" and the whole issue was sorted in less than 20 minutes.....

Cheers,
Adrian

Actually, I don't think the public sector is any worse than private companies, and can in some cases be better.

I've just spent a month trying to get a €900 deposit back from a car hire agency. Eventually returned after being fobbed off and given excuse after excuse. Of course when I paid it the £ was much weaker than it is now so have lost £40 in the process. Maybe I should have waited till after B****t when it will tank!

Once you have a pension the Government are legally obliged to pay it.

Which is why I went early.

Different rules apply to ex-pats. No pension increases and subject to exchange rates.

I did too. But I have no illusions that a future government would not be able to change things. Note how public sector pensions are always described as "gold plated" when in fact the vast majority are just a few thousand pounds. It would be easy to portray those of us getting them as worthless scroungers and stop paying. They've already changed the way index linking works (for the worse) and got away with it.

Look also at the "waspi" women and how they've been robbed of what they were promised.

The fact is that decent pensions are perfectly affordable and the money exists. It's just in the wrong hands. Roll on wealth / "mansion" taxes and steep increases in inheritance tax although I have no expectation that anyone will do that.
